  15. Yes, one can tweak things to get a moderate improvement, as Kevin's numbers
  16. show.  The problem is, we need an order of magnitude improvement.  Yes, I buy
  17. the argument that the MPW Pascal compiler produces "industrial strength" code,
  18. but when I look at the speeds achieved by virtually all competing compilers, as
  19. a manager I have trouble justifying the difference in personnel costs and
  20. product delivery times represented by the MPW compiler.

  22. The MPW compiler is good, but just too slow.  Only speeding up the compiler
  23. will really address the problem - and I am talking about more than a bandaid!
